Valentine

The love heart, 
on the card,

seemed wholly inappropriate-

no dysfunction, damaged tissue,

not even any blood.

I wanted to redraw it,

paint in some reality

in vivid red and crimson hues.

Eventually I sent it,

carefully addressed it to

‘My True Love,

care of,

Intensive Care,

Cardiac.’
