The Words

They fly at my head, pecking my brain, gain a clawhold in my soul.
I vainly shield my ears, cower, powerless,
attacked by a flock of words.

  1. It takes a real wordsmith to capture such profound insight and experiences into so few words.

Am truly humbled not to mention envious of such natural talent with language.

  2. Today I watched a young woman in the city of York...she cowered as a flock of birds rose from the ground suddenly and seemed to attack her...your poem is interpreted for me by that scene. A marvelous word picture that portrays the reality and the metaphor at one and the same time.
